Usually its advisable to go to the manufacturers website, but as I say Advent dosent have one. Hello there, I've had a Advent 7109b laptop for about 6 months(after buying 2nd hand) and recently the laptop has been resetting itself. To explain a bit further, I can leave the laptop off through the night and switch it back on in the morning and it will only get so far before it resets and does it again. Its like it cuts out and reloads vista again. Some days it'll stop on for 2-3 hours before resetting, others not even 20 seconds, and some the power light will come on and the laptop sounds on but nothing shows up on the screen. The power cable is always in, and the battery light is always on. Jiya re karaoke. I'm baffled, if anyone could give me an idea how to keep it on I would appreciate it. Nothing worse than playing Football Manager and it resets without saving. Does it just shutdown - it may be heat related - clean out the vents on the laptop - use compressed air ( i use a vacuum cleaner - but that does produce static and may damage the PC) Does it restart - if restart do you get a blue screen You have 'automatically restart' selected. Start>control panel>system Advanced Start Up and Recovery/Settings/System Failure/Unmark 'Automatically Restart'/Ok/Ok. Now you should not get a restart - but a blue screen post back all the details Stopcode and any file names it maybe a driver issue Does the harddrive make any noises - like a scratching or clicking. It does seem like a power problem, as I said windows could be on for 2-3 hours then the laptop just turns off and starts reloading, and sometimes I press the power button the green light is on and I can here it starting up but nothing shows on screen. The charger is always connected but I did try without the charger and exactly the same happened it just switches off. Its just funny how sometimes it can stat on for 2-3 hours and other times it wont start up at all. I think someone has had the back off and probably had a fiddle about with it before I got it. I dont think its anything to do with drivers. If it stays on long enough theres nothing wrong with anything, just loads windows, it does updates no problem, but it does seem very hot at times. There is a button next to the power button for the fan(I think), but doesnt seem to do much. I'll try what you sais as well and post back.
